Fresh Blackberry co*cktail Ingredients

  • 1 oz gin
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 8 blackberries (fresh and ripe)
  • 1 cup crushed ice cubes
  • ½-1 cup Prosecco (or sparkling water)

Optional Garnish

more blackberries, 2 sprigs of fresh thyme, fresh mint leaves, fresh basil, or other fresh herbs of choice

Variations and Substitutions

Gin: We used Bombay Sapphire for this easy co*cktail recipe, but you can use any dry gin you prefer. Moreover you can substitute citrus vodka, white rum or even bourbon whiskey, if you prefer.

Simple Syrup: You can use store-bought simple syrup or make your own. It is really incredibly easy to make homemade simple syrup. All you need is a small saucepan, 1 cup of white sugar and 1 cup water.

Natural Sweetness: In case you don’t want to use sugar syrup in your refreshing drink, you can add a bit of sweetness with maple syrup or agave nectar, for example.

Berries: Substitute fresh berries, such as raspberries, or strawberries, for example. Additionally, really ripe peaches would work great as well.

Citrus: Try adding a splash of fresh lemon juice or fresh lime juice to this yummy blackberry bramble co*cktail.

How To Make Non-Alcoholic

Make this fresh blackberry co*cktail into a mocktail by skipping the gin and substituting sparkling water (We love using La Croix water.) for the champagne. Additionally you could try club soda, soda water or even ginger ale or ginger beer instead of sparkling wine.

Muddler — A muddler is usually made from wood and looks much like a pestle. It is used to smash and combine co*cktail ingredients. In case you don’t own a muddler, you could try using a wooden spoon, a pestle, or a small rolling pin.

Jigger – A jigger is a small co*cktail measuring cup that is shaped much like an hourglass. It is usually made from metal and measures 1 ounce on the one side and 1½ ounces on the other side.

Common Questions

Can I substitute blackberries for another fruit in a blackberry co*cktail?

Yes you can! Raspberries would work. You could also try a really ripe peach.

Can I make a pitcher of blackberry gin co*cktails?

We’ve found that these muddled drinks work best when you make them individually. You can muddle all the fruit at once, however, then make the drinks in individual cups.

What is the difference between prosecco and champagne?

We often interchange the words sparkling wine, prosecco, and Champagne but there are distinct differences between Champagne and prosecco. They’re both sparkling white wines. However, Champagne is produced from chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier grapes grown in the Champagne region of France, while prosecco comes from the Veneto region of Italy and is made mainly from glera grapes.

When can I serve this gin co*cktail with fresh blackberries?

As a matter of fact this bramble co*cktail works great for lots of special occasions. Serve fresh blackberry gin co*cktail at brunch, dinner parties, co*cktail hour with friends, virtual happy hour or whenever you feel like it.

I don’t have champagne glasses, what other glasses can I use to serve this good co*cktail?

Besides champagne glasses, you can also use co*cktail glasses, wine glasses or small mason jars.

How can I intensify the blackberry flavor in this refreshing summer drink?

The best way to get more blackberry flavor in this sparkling blackberry co*cktail is by using blackberry syrup instead of plain simple syrup. Moreover, you can try adding any type of blackberry liqueur instead of gin, such as blackberry vodka, blackberry brandy, crème de mûre or any other blackberry liquor you can find at the liquor store.
