Cleaning the sensors

Press the Reset button while the globe is at the Home position with the blue light bar on to reset the cat sensor(s). When pressed during a cycle, it will pause the cycle. If pressed again while paused, it will abort the cycle.

Check for obstructions blocking the drawer full indicator (DFI) sensors. There are two sensors inside the base, above where the waste drawer would sit. Debris, such as dust or cat fur, can interfere with the DFI sensor. This can cause the unit to inaccurately trigger a drawer-full indication.

If your Litter-Robot 4 is not accurately detecting your cat's weight, this is typically an issue with the placement of your robot. The cat sensor weight scale may also record a partial measurement when a curious kitty puts weight on the step without completely entering the unit.

Cleaning the sensors

With the globe, bonnet, and drawer removed, lean the unit backward so that you can look into the holes on the bezel to see each sensor. Using a clean, dry cotton swab, carefully clean the surface of each sensor to remove any dust.

Check for obstructions that might prevent the cat sensor from functioning. Make sure Litter-Robot is on a firm, level surface. The cat sensor function can be affected if the unit is on carpeting or a litter mat. Check that there are no power cords running underneath the base of the robot that might obstruct movement.

How to reset the Litter Robot 4. Every time you add litter or empty its waste bin, you should press the bold “RESET” button on top of the Litter Robot 4.

There are three laser sensors located in the top of the bezel, called curtain sensors, that accurately measure the capacity of the waste drawer. During each Clean cycle, the DFI sensor will measure the level of waste within the waste drawer as the waste port passes over the waste drawer.

If the timing light is flashing red or you are receiving a "Cat sensor fault" notification in the Whisker app, this indicates the cat sensor has been continuously activated for 30 minutes or more, either by a cat that won't leave the globe or by too much weight in the unit.

The Reset button will reset your Litter-Robot's cat sensor. You can think of the cat sensor as the scale and the Reset button as a way to zero the scale.

Cat Sensor - Curtain Sensor

The Litter-Robot is equipped with Curtain Sensors looking downward across the unit opening and into the Globe that detect when a cat enters or exits the Globe while in the Home position. If a Curtain Sensor is activated during a cycle, the Globe will stop.

Press the Reset button.

Any time you affect the weight or placement of the unit (including emptying the Waste Drawer, adding or removing litter, or cleaning or moving the unit), press the Reset button to ensure the Weight Sensors will detect your cat and cycle properly.

Press and hold the Reset and Connect buttons for 3 seconds, then power the unit on.
