This Poison Apple Halloween co*cktail is a beautiful Halloween drink recipe. Perfect for a Halloween party, it is a twist on an apple daquiri with white rum, sour apple, and cinnamon schnapps. A spooky trick or treat drink with unexpected spice.
Make a fun and familiar co*cktail this Halloween with this Poison Apple Halloween co*cktail. A twist on an apple daiquiri using rum and schnapps with a “poison” floater.
Poison Apple Halloween co*cktail
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I love all of the fun food and drinks you can make.
Themed co*cktails are one of my favorite parts of a Halloween party, like my Stormy Hallows Eve Halloween co*cktail.
I am just in loooooooove with how amazing this apple co*cktail looks! It is just so fun adding the “poison” and watching it change colors.
This Halloween drink is a take on a cinnamon apple daquiri, made with a white rum.
Easily switch this up with vodka if desired, making it more like a martini.
Because of this, it is a strong co*cktail. If you want something lighter, try the Toxic Waste co*cktail on our sister site!
Test Tubes of Poison
I just LOVE how adorable these little glass test tubes of poison are! They look amazing and are perfect for presenting the poison separate from the drink and allowing guests to make a little co*cktail magic.
These are 13ml test tubes measuring 15x100mm and are perfect to hold 1/2 ounce of the schnapps. They also fit very well into martini and rocks glasses.
No test tubes? You can use small shot glasses or any other small liqueur glass you have around.
Cinnamon Flavor Options
I love using cinnamon in this co*cktail for a few reasons. Cinnamon and apple pair perfectly together, plus they are a classic fall flavor combination.
And there are also several cinnamon liquor options that you can use. I list cinnamon schnapps, but a cinnamon whiskey or other cinnamon liquor will work just as well!
And since the cinnamon is hidden in the black, it adds a nice unexpected spice to the drink that your guests might not be expecting. Perfect for Halloween tricks!
Getting the Black Poison
I thought through several options for the black poison and landed on using a drop of black food gel per co*cktail in the cinnamon schnapps.
You can also use black food coloring, but you will likely need to use more since it is not as concentrated.
Black food gel has less liquid than a food coloring and is great for baking (and co*cktails!) where you want a strong color but do not want to add a lot of moisture.
Red poison would also be fun!
Making in Advance
I always try to find ways for things to be made in advance for gatherings and parties.
To get these drinks ready ahead of time, combine the cinnamon liquor with the black food gel and prep in the glass test tubes. Set them aside in a fun way to present them like a little cauldron or skull bowl.
Then mix the rum, apple, and lime juice all together and store in a pitcher or bowl.
All you need to do is put everything out for guests to pour a co*cktail and grab their poison of choice!
Ingredients Needed for Poison Apple co*cktail
You just need a few ingredients and tools for this co*cktail:
13ml test tubes (or small shot glass)
Martini glass (or rocks glass)
White rum (or vodka)
Apple Schnapps
Cinnamon Schnapps (or cinnamon whiskey/liquor)
Black Food Gel (or food coloring, or red)

- ½ ounce cinnamon schnapps (or cinnamon whiskey) (1 Tablespoon)
- 1 drop black food gel or food coloring
- 2 ounces white rum (4 Tablespoons, or ¼ cup)
- 1 ounce apple schnapps (2 Tablespoons)
