This fluffy, quick and easy flatbread recipe requires only 2 pantry ingredients, one bowl and whipped up in no time. Loved as is by the whole family, but you can add other flavorful mix-ins to jazz these up.

Luckily for you, I’ve crafted the best flatbread recipe made with pantry staple ingredients, so no need for an extra trip to the stores or market.

Kids loooooove eating these warm, soft, fluffy and just perfectly charred flatbreads just as much as they love mixing and measuring. Making these is a great rainy day activity, summer break treat or just perfect to entertain the kids when they’re stuck at home.

This really is an easy flatbread recipe. Just think 2 ingredients (no yeast in sight), 4 minutes of mixing and kneading and about 4 minutes to whip up the first batch in your hot skillet. That is it people!!!! And you can add extra ingredients to jazz them up.

How To Make FlatBread

  1. Mix the flour and yogurt (and oil and any other add-ins if using) in a mixing bowl until combined.
  2. Add dough to a floured work surface with flour and knead for a minute so it comes together.
  3. Divide the bread dough into 8 and roll these sections into balls.
  4. Flatten each ball and then use a rolling pin to roll each piece into 10-12 cm rounds.
  5. Heat a skillet or frying pan till hot, spray on a little oil and add your flatbread. use a little oil on the work surface to stop the dough sticking.
  6. When the pan is really hot, lay the flatbread in the pan and cook each one for 1 to 2 minutes on each side.
  7. Repeat until all the flatbreads are cooked.

Yogurt Bread Recipe Tips

  • I prefer a slightly crunchy on the edge yogurt flatbread, so I roll them out thinner and cook a little longer.
  • You can easily double or triple the recipebut then have at least 2 skillets on the go so you can cook them faster.
  • Cook time depends on the thickness and size of the rolled doughso start out with less time if you are unsure and increase accordingly.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (250g) self raising flour
  • 1 cup (250g) natural yogurt
  • 2 tsp olive oil optional but recommended
  • Optional add-in's

Instructions

  • Mix the flour, yogurt and oil (and any other add-ins, if using) in a mixing bowl until combined.

  • Add dough to a floured work surface with flour and knead for a minute so it comes together.

  • Divide the bread dough into 8 and roll these sections into balls.

  • Flatten each ball and then use a rolling pin to roll each piece into 3-4 inch (10-12 cm) rounds.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 300F / 148C, spray on a little oil and add your flatbread.

  • Place flatbread in the air fryer basket and cook each one for 8 to 9 minutes, turning them halfway through the cooking time. Sometimes they will puff up in the air fryer,so you may want to place a trivet on top to keep them flat and prevent them from being blown around.

  • Repeat until all the flatbreads are cooked.
