Man wanted by 3 local law enforcement agencies arrested during traffic stop, North Carolina deputies say (2024)

STARTS RIGHT NOW. HPPENING NOW. RIGHT NOW. A GUILFORD COUNTY DEPUTY IS RECOVERING AFTER BEING SHOT IN THE LINE OF DUTY. WXII 12 JOSHUA DAVIS JOINS US LIVE NOW WHERE THAT SHOOTING TOOK PLACE IN OAK RIDGE. AND, JOSHUA, WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO FIND OUT SO FAR TODAY? WELL, THERE’S STILL A LOT OF UNANSWERED QUESTIONS, BUT WHAT WE DO KNOW IS THAT A DEPUTY WAS SHOT ALONG SKIPPERS TRACE AROUND 1:43 A.M. THIS MORNING, ALTHOUGH IT’S STILL UNCLEAR WHAT EXACTLY LED UP TO THAT POINT. THE GUILFORD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THEY RESPONDED TO AN INCIDENT HERE ALONG SKIPPERS TRACE, AND DURING THAT RESPONSE, A DEPUTY WAS SHOT. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AND IS CURRENTLY RECOVERING. WE STILL DON’T KNOW THE IDENTITY OF THE SUSPECT OR WHAT LED UP TO THE DEPUTY BEING SHOT. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE SUSPECT IS IN CUSTODY WITH NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES. IT’S STILL UNCLEAR WHY THE SUSPECT WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. WE’VE ALSO REACHED OUT TO INVESTIGATORS FOR THE ANSWERS TO THOSE QUESTIONS. AT THIS POINT, THEY TELL US THAT THEY HAVE NO FURTHER INFORMATION TO PROVIDE AT THIS TIME. ACCORDING TO NBC AFFILIATE WRAL, THIS HAPPENED OUTSIDE OF UNC HEALTH JOHN JOHNSTON AND CLAYTON INVESTIGATORS SAY THERE WAS AN ALTERCATION IN THE PARKING LOT AROUND 6 A.M., AND ONE PERSON WAS KILLED AFTER BEING SHOT BY THE DEPUTY. NO WORD ON WHAT LED TO THAT ALTERCATION IN THE FIRST PLACE. HAPPENING NOW IN KERNERSVILLE, A MAN IS BEHIND BARS ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING AND THREATENING A WOMAN, THEN BARRICADE HIMSELF INSIDE A HOME. POLICE ARRESTED 35 YEAR-OLD TYLER JESTER LATE LAST NIGHT ON WILLOW BEND DRIVE. OFFICERS SAY THEY WENT TO A HOME THERE TO SERVE WARRANTS, BUT JESTER REFUSED TO COME TO THE DOOR AND BARRICADED HIMSELF INSIDE THAT HOME. A man wanted by three local law enforcement agencies has been arrested, according to deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Spencer was wanted by the High Point Police Department for larceny of a motor vehicle. He was also wanted by the Thomasville Police Department for common law robbery, second-degree kidnapping, assault by strangulation, larceny of a motor vehicle, hit and run, no operator’s license, misdemeanor larceny and injury to real property.

Additionally, Spencer was wanted by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office from an incident that occurred on June 6, 2024, where he rammed a patrol vehicle in the area of Hill Road and then fled at a high speed.

Deputies issued warrants on Spencer for stop sign violation, reckless driving, fleeing to elude arrest in a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official.

During the traffic stop with the T.R.A.C.E. Team, Spencer was combative as he was being taken into custody.

As a result of the traffic stop, Spencer was additionally charged with two more counts of second-degree kidnapping and resisting arrest as he was to force the driver of the vehicle he was in to flee.
